Last Friday night we took our family to Questburgh – Pittsburgh’s only family-friendly escape room. If you haven’t done an escape room yet, you’re missing out! They are super fun. You are locked in a room and have a set amount of time (typically 60 minutes) to solve the puzzles and decode the clues needed to escape.
My husband and I had done two escape rooms before with some of our adult friends. We wanted to try one with our kids, but we were worried they would be frustrated if the clues were too hard. Then we discovered Questburgh. Their Pirate-themed escape room is specifically designed for families.
My kids are aged 12, 11, 8, 6, and 4. The oldest four were all able to contribute to figuring out clues. We worked together, and the kids were thrilled when we succeeded in finding the pirate treasure. It was challenging enough to keep my husband and I interested and easy enough that our kids were able to participate without becoming frustrated. I was worried about bringing my four year old, but he was kept occupied by the toy pirate swords and guns scattered about. Everyone was really engaged and had a great time.
As soon as we finished, the kids were begging to do it again. It was a great family activity and tons of fun. I highly recommend it!
