Our Story: Two Sisters, One Purpose
In this interview-style blog post, we sit down with sisters Meg and Stef to discuss their journey into creating their Mother-Daughter Book Club Guide. Their shared love of literature, family, and community shines through as they talk about their inspirations, experiences, and hopes for the guide.
Question: Tell us a bit about your backgrounds and how you both got started in writing.
Meg: I've been writing for as long as I can remember. Reading and writing stories were therapeutic for me as a kid, and Stef was always my biggest cheerleader. Her encouragement gave me the confidence to pursue writing, studying, and eventually teaching literature.
Stef: I loved reading Meg’s stories, and literature has always been a significant part of my life. It shaped my journey, leading me to publish children's books and create the ABC See, Hear, Do Learn-to-Read program. Books mean so much to me, and I’ve always believed in the power of reading to connect people.
Question: How did the idea of the Parent-Child Book Club Guide Series come about?
Meg: Stef and I have collaborated on countless projects over the years. When she approached me about writing a Parent-Child Book Club Guide, it was a no-brainer. We both saw it as an opportunity to combine our passions and create something meaningful.
Stef: The idea actually stemmed from a personal experience. When my oldest daughter was eight, she declared that she hated reading, which was blasphemy to my ears! I launched a local Mother-Daughter book club to help reignite her love for books and learning—and it worked! I wanted to share my ideas with other moms to make it easier for them to run their own book clubs.
Question: What do you hope to achieve with this guide?
Meg: Inspiring kids to have fun and think deeply about literature is our primary goal. We want to make reading a joyful and thoughtful experience for families.
Stef: And we created this guide for both the "Stefs" who love planning parties and the "Megs" who prefer the simpler things. It's all about building connections and celebrating great stories together.
Question: How do you see this guide fostering connections between parents and children?
Meg: Sharing and celebrating great stories has always been more than words on a page for Stef and me. From cheering each other on as kids to our experiences now with our own daughters, this guide is about creating connections and building a community with those you love.
Stef: Reading and discussing books is a great way to connect and build memories together. We hope this shared experience will foster deeper connections between parents and their children!
Cheers to bookish joy! Preorder your guide and start your own literary adventure with your kids. We’re excited to be a part of your journey!
