Our 2021 Picture Book Writing Challenge was a great success! About 30 of you participated with me in this challenging— and fun!— writer’s journey! I loved hearing about your light-bulb moments and your struggles, and can you believe it? We wrote picture books in ten different genres!
So who’s in for this year? I admit, I needed the December break, but I’m already chomping at the bit to get started again. I’d love to increase our numbers, grow together as writers, and get even more picture books out on paper—even if you choose to lock those papers away! :) If you were on the fence last year, hop off—you can do this! Tell your friends, and let’s get this party started!
How it Works:
Register by commenting on this blog post. On the first day of the month, I’ll share a guest blog post with information about that month’s genre of picture books. Later in the month, I’ll share a guest post from an author who writes that type of picture book. Challenge yourself by writing a picture book manuscript in the prescribed genre! Remember, it doesn’t have to be perfect! No one else even has to see it! The point is to have fun and grow as a writer. (This is a personal challenge for yourself, as no critiquing or sharing manuscripts is involved.)
Outcome:
By the end of the year, you’ll have 10 new picture book manuscripts! Not only that, but hopefully you will have been pushed out of your comfort zone, tried something new, and had fun doing it!
